Google Stadia is a newly introduced cloud gaming service operated by Google. Google first introduced stadia in March 2019 through Games developer’s conference.
Then, later on, it’s premiere edition got launched in November 2019. Till now, it is only available in 14 countries, including Canada, United States, United Kingdom, etc. Google currently offers Chromecast ultra and three months of Stadia Pro while buying the premiere edition of Stadia at $129.
With it being available on the market, many people have already got their hands-on on this device. And they have given their opinions about this device based on their experience.
So today, we are here to know if Google Stadia is the future of gaming or not. Analyzing the services stadia provides and the things it lags behind on, we will try to tell if Google Stadia is worth buying or not.
The Good Side:
Hardware: Well, Google stadia is hyped up due to the less amount of equipment you need to buy or manage. With Stadia, you just have to get the official Google stadia controller and an updated Chromecast ultra(optimized for gameplay).
As this is the cloud gaming service, there is no need for anything else, which is nonetheless the feature everyone excited about.
No install times: Another great thing to consider on Stadia is that you don’t need to wait for games to get installed after you paid for it. With Google stadia, you can play the games right after you hit the activation code of the game.
The Bad Side:
Performance: The performance of Google stadia is good and not so good at the same time. Even if you are playing at a TV with great specs and with excellent network connection, the performance doesn’t match the level of PC. And when you play it on Tablet or Mobile, the performance gets even worse. If you don’t have such a good network connection, get ready to face lags on the action and shooting games.
Library of Games: The number of games available on the Stadia right now is not merely enough. Even with the Stadia Pro subscription, you only get Destiny 2 to play till now. If you want to play other games, you have to pay separately for them. And still, there are not that many games available to buy.
So, we have shown both the good and bad side of Google Stadia. Now it’s up to you to choose whether to buy it or not.
If I were you, I would give some more time to Google and fix the things Stadia is lagging on. As this is just the premiere edition, there is undoubtedly more to come out. Therefore, in my opinion, this is not the right time to buy a Stadia.
