The ‘Watchmen’ movie is a comic book adaptation released in 23rd February 2009. Directed by Zack Snyder, Watchmen was arguably the best superhero movie of 2009. It is a narrative from a vigilante named Rorschach who seeks to find the killer of one of his old colleagues, Edward Blake. As he reconnects with his retired associates, only one of which has true powers, Rorschach glimpses a far-reaching conspiracy involving their shared past and catastrophic consequences for the world’s future.
The movie starts off with a ‘show’, discussing on whether the Russians will attack America or not, introducing viewers to the movies plot which took place during the cold war between the United States and the Soviet Union.

The film watchmen has two main messages in the movie one of them is hope and the other is change with the world history being changed and almost all hope being lost there is also messages of sacrifice and desperation.
All the values are shown in a dark tune with there being barely anything in the movie being shown in a good light but that’s what gives one of the values hope in the movie so much meaning. But even with the light of hope in the movie it comes with the dark as another value sacrifice goes hand in hand with hope throughout the movie, especially at the end. the value of change is shown in many ways like the history of the world changing people and the characters change throughout the movie, but these changes aren’t the best which leads to the desperation of humanity in the watchmen world.
There is a lot to take in when it comes down to the dialogue in watchmen with it coming in two main ways one of these and the most important is the narration of the characters mainly Rorschach.

The best dialogue comes from the characters and their interactions with the world around them one of these is the monologue of the comedian and his arch enemy mid-way through the film, even though is was an important character monologue it only helps develop the comedian as a character and his view of the world, but there is one character that does this multiple times in the movie and in these narration in the movie help show the view what’s going on and how everything has changed over this time. The character Rorschach gives the viewer his views on the world and for some part of the movie you see the world through his eyes. The character of Rorschach is very well done as he sees the world in a very black and white state, he has a very particular set of beliefs and he lives by a code that you can hear though the dialogue he gives and the conversations he has with other characters.Watchmen is a nonlinear movie using flashbacks and characters to tell about one of the values in the movie change and how the world around the characters have changed and the history of the world. The way that Zack Snyder cuts to the flashbacks with no real cut to show you that you are in a cut-scene is very effective and helps the viewer stay immersed in the movie. The flashbacks also are very engaging in the way they show characters’ past and help show how the character got to where they are, this brings it back to the value of change in the movie.

Moreover, the score to the movie is made up of zero original prices as the movie uses music from the 50s, 60s and 70s songs like all along the watchtower by Jimmy Hendrix and the best song used in the movie bob Dylan’s times are changing which is used to open the movie with a montage of the history of hero’s, the world around them and other things that have changed in the world like Nixon being elected a third time and many others. The song and the intro to the movie means so much and sets up the movie everything but most importantly it introduces the first of the four values in the movie, change with it literally saying in bob Dylan’s words “times are changing”.
The editing in the movie is very clean and has some amazing fade a ways or scenes and some other creative cuts as the director Zack Snyder wanted to show some creative cuts to show the life of the movie. the cuts in the film allows the viewer to stay immersed in the movie which is incredibly important when the movie is explaining important parts so you don’t miss anything. The editing overall is extremely clean well done thus making this movie an unmistakable masterpiece of the 09.
