One of the biggest social media giant has been reportedly said to be vulnerable to MP4 files. MP4 file is an audio and a video format file that gets sent to around in millions especially in applications such as WhatsApp. Owned by Facebook, WhatsApp’s officials spoke about the fix for the vulnerability very recently.
WhatsApp has a massive craze in India, worth about 400 million users which is not too surprising considering India’s colossal population. The Indian Computer Emergency Response Team commonly known as CERT are insisting the public to update to the latest compatible version of the application from either the Google Play Store or the IOS App Store in order to prevent harm while using the application. Moreover, they have also notified the people, the malware strictly comes in use if only the user downloads the MP4 file and run it on their respective mobile devices.
Before we know it, I’m sure the cyber-security team at Facebook will find a long term fix for this incident as this is quite unusual to occur in such heavily used social medias.
